The idea of making an Uzbek cooking class was kindly recommended to me by an acquaintance of mine, the day we just met. An energetic Japanese woman in a beautiful Kimono named Kaoru asked me “Why don’t you offer Uzbek cooking classes? I would definitely come!”.We met at a kimono wearing event, which I attended for the first time. It was organised by Yoko Kinoshita, who is also well known as Sushi & Kimono Yoko. She has been offering sushi cooking classes and kimono fitting in Winterthur for many years. Kaoru san, Yoko san and Hayami san, whom I also met on this day, attended my first Uzbek cooking class! Everything went wonderfully and we managed to prepare the four most well known Uzbek dishes: Ugra Osh (chicken soup with noodles), Qovoq Manty (dumplings with pumpkin and onion), Palov (Classical one-pot dish made of rice, meat, carrots, onions, many spices, etc. )
We were 5 people in the kitchen, my friend Kikue also came for support. I want to thank them all for their big interest in the Uzbek cooking culture and their great enthusiasm during the class!
At the moment I am organising another Uzbek cooking class in Japanese, as I already have a group of interested people!
